Introduction |
This section addresses topics associated with the LCHS Band Booster Club. |
|
Purpose |
The purpose of the club is to assist the Langham Creek Band and its Directors in meeting the financial and scholastic goals of the band and its students. The Langham Creek Band Booster Club has been incorporated as a non-profit corporation under the laws of the State of Texas and is recognized by the Federal Internal Revenue Service as a tax-exempt organization. |
|
Membership |
All parents/guardians who have students in the band program are automatic members of the Band Booster Club. |
|
Organization |
The Booster Club is organized around the concept of an executive committee (Band Board), committees that are organized for each major event and activity, and the general membership. |
|
Meetings |
Booster Club meetings are conducted monthly during the school year. Meetings are typically on the second Tuesday of the month and usually start at 7:30 p.m. Occasionally, the date of the meeting will shift to coincide with other events. |
|
Functions and Activities |
As its name implies, the Booster Club engages in many different types of activities through-out the year to assist the Band Directors and Students. These include: Spirit. This includes impromptu "pick-me-ups" for the kids and directors and Social Events (parties).
A comprehensive calendar lists the key events. Parents volunteer to assist in these activities. A major effort is made to recruit volunteers for specific events during the Registration in July as well as at Booster Club meetings throughout the year. |
|
Volunteer Opportunities |
As the name implies, the Booster Club major purpose is to recruit and organize volunteers to support the various activities of the band program. Volunteer opportunities are endless. We recognize that members have different talents and different amounts of time available to volunteer. Booster Club members are encouraged to help out whenever and wherever they can. All volunteer efforts are appreciated. This is no time to be shy or demure. If you are available and willing to help out, please step forward and let someone know. Typically, volunteer sign-up sheets for specific activities are available at registration and Booster Club Meetings. Or, you can contact a Booster Club officer or an event chairman to get added to the volunteer list. |
|
Volunteer Hours |
Each Booster Club member needs to track and report Volunteer Hours – the time spent working on Booster Club activities or otherwise helping the band program as a parent volunteer. The Booster Club maintains a notebook in the band hall for members to log their hours. Each member is encouraged to log hours as they accrue. This information is reported on a monthly basis. Cy-Fair ISD uses this information to substantiate the value of volunteers in the school system. |

Chaperone is – perhaps – the most visible volunteer activity. During marching season, with the large number of bus trips for special practices, games, and contests, chaperones are always in demand. During concert season, the number of chaperone opportunities is much less, but just as important. Chaperone Duties and Responsibilities include:
