LANGHAM CREEK HIGH SCHOOL - January 8, 2001 |
|
This past weekend, Lobo band students broke yet another record at both Langham Creek High School and in Cy-Fair school district. Congratulations go to fourteen Lobo band students who were selected for membership in the 2001 Texas All State Band, and to one other band student who won first alternate placement. The selection process involves competition with several thousand Texas high school musicians and is the highest honor that a student musician can earn in the state of Texas. This is the first time that any school in Cy-Fair school district has had All State placement and recognition for fourteen band students. Langham Creek's past record was eleven All State students. Texas All State band tryouts are held at six area tryout sites across the state. Also, for the second consecutive time, the Langham Creek band came out as the top school at what is considered the most competitive Area tryout in the state. Congratulations to the following six Lobo band students who not only made All State but who also finished first in the tryout: Aimee Winkler, Piccolo; Charlsie Bondy, Flute; Brian Martin, Bass Clarinet; Steve Hicks, Tenor Saxophone; Garrett Bredenkamp, Baritone Saxophone; and Robby Halsor, Euphonium. Congratulations to the following eight Lobo band students for earning membership in the All State Band: Allison Bing, Flute; Amy Heidbreder, Clarinet; Misty Crowe, Bass Clarinet; Jessica Irvin and Kevin Pan, French Horn; Ken Moses and Danny Struzick, Trombone; and Kelvin Wilkes, Euphonium. These fourteen students will appear in February with the All State Band at the Texas Music Educators Convention in San Antonio. Congratulations also go to William Thomas who was selected as first alternate to the All State Band. Please take the opportunity to congratulate these students when you see them in the halls of school or out in the community. They deserve the recognition for countless hours of hard work and tireless dedication to music. |
